Medical Billers and Collectors

We are currently searching for qualified and experienced medical billers and collectors. These new positions are available as a result of our continued growth and expansion. A strong working knowledge of the NextGen EMR and Practice Management Software along with knowledge in the specialties of Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Orthopedics, Cardiology, and Rehabilitation would be a plus!

Summary: To perform duties in all aspects of the medical billing process.

Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Contacts patients regarding outstanding balances.
  • Establishes payment plans to help patients manage payment of bills.
  • Processes insurance payments to patient accounts in computerized system.
  • Rebills insurance companies or other third parties to secure payment for patients.
  • Responds to patient billing and statement inquiries.
  • Able to perform with little supervision.
  • Acts as a liaison to all parties involved.
  • Handles correspondence, follow-up, charge entry, cash posting (manual and electronic) A/R analysis and customer service.
  • Acts as a patient advocate.
  • Responsible for Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly closes.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have exceptional organizational skills and follow-up skills, a keen attention to details, and good verbal and written communication skills and speaking abilities. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:

  • Must have a knowledge of insurance and medical terminology.
  • Must possess strong computer skills, including 10 key proficiency.
  • Must have knowledge of refunds, reimbursement rates, bill runs, and fee schedules.
  • Must be proficient in Billing/Posting.
  • Must be able to handle multiple and complicated specialties with a highest level of accuracy.
  • Must be proficient in knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum six months experience using practice management software.
  • Online claim processing and follow-up experience is helpful.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to use computer, copier, scanner, fax machine, and telephone.

Current ongoing open positions include:

  • MEDICAL BILLING SPECIALIST for Part A, or Part B and/or commercial claims. Billing experience in the specialties of Oncology, Orthopedics, and Rehabilitation is a plus! Summary: to perform duties in all aspects of the medical billing process utilizing Medical Manager, MedStar, Centricity, Meditech, or HBOC billing systems.

  • MEDICAL CODING. Medical coding positions for multi-specialty practices, including Orthopedics and Cardiology. Please do not apply if you do not have a current CPC certificate through the AAPC and a minimum of one year professional coding experience.
